Science and Technology Orientation at Fagrabäckskolan. If you like challenges, creating new products and trying out new ways of working then the Science and Technology Orientation at Fagrabäckskolan is the right choice for you.
Science and Technology Orientation (STO) Whilst the Science and Technology Orientation is based on the 2011 national curriculum for compulsory education, we work in a number of different ways. As part of their education, pupils shall: • work in such a way as to combine school subjects • work together with pupils in other school years • work with Mathivation • have contact with businesses • work with entrepreneurial learning • carry out assignments and challenges in national projects that provide an outlet for creativity. These exciting projects include Future City, First Lego League, Problemlösarna (Problem Solvers), Språkolympianden (Language Olympics).
Pupils tell us why they chose STO Emil Why did you choose STO? – I chose it because I am interested in electricity, for example connecting bulbs and seeing how they light up and looking at the different things that conduct electricity. What are you looking forward to? – Working with Minecraft at Future City and designing a city that we can then build a real model of. That’s fun! Disa Why are you interested in STO? – I don’t really know what I want to be – but if I do STO now and then study science or technology at upper secondary school, then I can go on to do just about anything. What are you looking forward to?
– I like technology and building things. I like doing things rather than learning everything from books. I also like being able to think things out by myself.
Tarek Why did you choose STO? – I think science and technology is fun because I like working on projects like Future Lego League. In the future I’d like to learn more advanced programming and I hope that’s something I can do in STO. What are you looking forward to? – I am interested in learning more about science and technology. It will be fun to work on interesting projects. Emma Why are you interested in STO? – They are important subjects that I’d like to spend a lot of time doing. Building things – both on the computer and with my hands – sounds fun. I play quite a lot of Minecraft and SIMS in my spare time. What are you looking forward to? – Building and being creative. Premises STO is part of Fagrabäckskolan and most of your lessons will take place at Teknikum together with your teachers and school friends.
