ASSESSMENT OF EDUCATIONAL CREDENTIALS
Students who wish to enrol in the first year of the second cycle degree in Biology must have, in addition to the curricular requirements stated in the academic regulations of the course, an adequate preparation both in matters fundamental to the preparation of the Biologist, such as Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Computer Science, and in basic biological disciplines that provide the essential knowledge about the morphological, functional and structural organization of living beings. They must also know the biochemical, molecular and cellular mechanisms regulating inheritance, reproduction and development. In particular, they must document the previous acquisition of sufficient knowledge in the following scientific disciplines: Botany, Zoology, Ecology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Cytology and Histology, Developmental Biology, Microbiology, General Physiology, Genetics, Pharmacology. Curricular requirements In detail the curricular requirements for admission to Biology are: 1) Joint possession of the requirements stated in a) and b): a) have a degree in one of the following classes (Ministerial Decree 270/2004): L-13 Biological Sciences, L-2 Biotechnology, L-32 Science and Technology for the Environment and Nature, and the following Ministerial Decree 509/99 Classes: 12 Biological Sciences, 1 Biotechnology, 27 Science and Technology for the Environment and Nature; alternatively, have a degree in the previously D.M. 509/99 (five-year degrees in Biological Sciences) b) have acquired at least 30 credits in the SSD BIO/01, BIO/05, BIO/06, BIO/07, BIO/09, BIO/10, BIO/11, BIO/13, BIO/14, BIO/18, BIO/19. 2) For graduates in a different study course than those referred to in the preceding paragraph, the following qualifications are required: have acquired at least 75 credits in the SSD BIO/01, BIO/05, BIO/06, BIO/07, BIO/09, BIO/10, BIO/11, BIO/13, BIO/14, BIO/18, BIO/19, MED/42. 3) For graduates from foreign universities, the adequacy of curricular requirements is assessed case by case on the basis of the coherence between the programs carried out in different areas, the training bases deemed necessary for advanced training offered by the course of Biology, as well as language skills.
For enrollment in the second cycle degree in Biology the English language skills are required in written and oral form at B1 level. The assessment of personal preparation is done according to the academic regulations of the course of studies.
Proof of the student's personal preparation A test to verify the prior preparation is conducted in oral or written form, on the basic knowledge and skills in the following disciplines: Botany, Zoology, Ecology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Cytology and Histology, Developmental Biology , General Microbiology, General Physiology, Genetics, Pharmacology. The test may be held in one or more sessions. In case that more than one session, those who have not been admitted to the first may recur to the next. The test can be done by graduates who meet the academic requirements set out in paragraph 1a) who obtained the qualification with a final degree grade less than 95/110, and undergraduate courses of study of the classes provided for in the said paragraph 1a), who have acquired at the date of the test, at least 120 CFU. The graduates who have passed the verification test will be admitted conditionally, and may register on condition that they meet their qualifications before the deadline for the closing of entries.
